Seating: There are more chair categories and models within each category than any other single office furniture type, likely because it is the only furniture item that actually has to support many body types and sizes while the individual is performing one or more different tasks during the day.
Other than reception and guest seating, both of which are not generally used while performing a task, chairs used while performing various tasks should be ergonomically designed and of a size that fits the user properly. Executive chairs are generally larger and higher backed than any other chair types and are such in order to project an image of seniority. However, they, too, should be designed in such a way that the user is properly supported, especially in the lower back but also in the upper back since this chair type is often used in the reclining position. A variety of mechanisms is available that can provide seat height adjustment, back angle control, infinite arm heights within a range of several inches etc.
Management and Task seating is smaller than the executive chairs but likely has even more varieties of adjustment to suit the more varied tasks being performed, or may even have multiple users which requires that the chair can be readily adjusted in several ways to fit someone of different dimensions. These types of chairs are more likely to be upholstered in a fabric compared to the executive chair, which is more likely covered in leather or leather/mock leather combination.
